Paintings now available on Marketplace!

Our opening show was such a success that I have decided to make the paintings available on marketplace.

The first painting I have made available is called “Teddies”. A still life of an evening moment in a festival, giant pink and white teddy bears in the foreground with the bright lights of a tilting carnival ride whirling through the air behind them.

From the Gallery Canvas Notes: “Teddies – a polaroid camera and a brave venturing down the midway of the rose festival fun park and this is what was saved. I like lights at night and carnival colors.”

In addition to my shape store MEAT, I have opened a gallery featuring 17 original paintings in frames and matting that have color changing menus for individual customization. The paintings also include a resize menu to make it easier to fit the art into your space.

My “refuge” exhibit runs through December.

Everyone needs refuge.

I tend to hurl myself into what i do. The Refuge series are works done in my first years as a painter in a time of untamed and fearless ambition. I use whimsical colors defiant enough to squeeze out the undertow.

This is painting as place. We watch the gathering storm from a sheltered terrace. Food, wine, flowers and sleeping cats. Bright colors help to drown out the noise.

I wandered into this series trying to reshape myself as an artist, transitioning for this time from wordsmith to painter. I found a singular and solitary refuge in the paint and canvas from the noisy communal art of playwriting. These images represent hope. They are what I imagine hope to be.

What I’ve come to know, these 15 years later, is that while refuge may feel safe while watching a gathering storm in the distance – the undertoad is waiting just out of sight poised and ready to strike – ready to drag who we love into some cold briney deep.
